Homeowners Amy and Jamie Beckman of Waukesha have reduced their energy costs dramatically since receiving a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR^® evaluation from Focus on Energy partner, Beyond Energy, LLC.

Over the past 10 years, the couple’s energy costs have risen steadily, despite attempts to control them through a special billing program offered by the utility that averages monthly charges and spreads them more evenly throughout the year.

In search of a solution, the couple contacted Focus on Energy, who put them in touch with energy consultant Tim Guillama of Beyond Energy. Tim visited the home and conducted a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR evaluation to identify ways the couple could save energy and money while improving their comfort.

Following the assessment, the Beckmans received a list of recommended energy efficiency improvements, such as air sealing and insulating their attic and box sill, and replacing all of their inefficient incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). The couple made the improvements and crossed their fingers.

Recently, we received an email from the Beckmans, who wanted to tell us about their experience--and their savings. “We hoped for the best when we made the improvements, but were absolutely blown away when we received our bill today… Our budget settlement is a CREDIT! We actually owe NOTHING this month and our monthly budget will be going down for the next 6 months.”
