energy Building a new home is one of the biggest and often the most difficult decisions a person will make. There are so many things to consider throughout the process. Once you have picked the lot and have decided to move forward with the planning and design of your new home you will need to make some very serious decisions. Who will build your home? Will the design and layout fit your needs? Can you meet those needs financially? Will your new home be safe and durable? And, knowing you have considered all of the options carefully, will your new home provide the peace of mind you and your family expect?

The Wisconsin ENERGY STAR Homes Program works with homeowners, builders and the building industry to construct better homes, homes that are, on average, 25 percent more energy efficient than homes built to Wisconsin's Uniform Dwelling Code. In addition, Wisconsin ENERGY STAR Homes exceed the Environmental Protection Agency's national ENERGY STAR for Homes Program standards for new home construction.

Every home in the Wisconsin ENERGY STAR Homes Program goes through a series of performance tests and must meet specific program standards before being certified. While the process results in better buildings - largely due to consultants and builders paying greater attention to construction details - we are able to document your home's performance and issue a certification report (click on the link below for a sample certification report). Your new home is now a certified Wisconsin ENERGY STAR Home.
